Communities and enterprises work together to start a full-chain recycling journey for plastic flexible packaging

The recycling rate of plastic flexible packaging is far below the average level due to its low recycling value, easy pollution and lack of consumer awareness. The "Plastic Flexible Packaging Recycling and Terminal Mixed Application Demonstration Project Based on Households and Recycling Companies" is a project funded by the United Nations Development Program Global Environment Fund Small Grant Program, and CPRRA is responsible for the planning and implementation of the project. The plastic flexible packaging collected by the community will be transported to plastic recycling factories and scientific research institutes to be processed into plastic products using advanced and feasible production technologies.

On the morning of January 17, the Plastic Recycling Branch of the China Synthetic Resin Association (CPRRA) and the Residential Committee of the Fifth Beijie Community in Changping District, Beijing jointly held a volunteer activity for garbage sorting in the Fifth Beijie Community. Through community pilots, publicity and education activities, the awareness and participation of residents in the recycling of plastic flexible packaging were enhanced, and the correct classification, recycling and disposal of single-material plastic flexible packaging was promoted.

Environmental protection classroom:

Children actively learn about plastic recycling

On the morning of January 17, in the activity room on the second floor of the Fifth Community Committee of Beijie Home, CPRRA organized children and community volunteers to participate in a small environmental science class. Liu Congcong, Executive Deputy Secretary-General of CPRRA, shared with everyone some environmental knowledge such as garbage classification, plastic soft packaging classification, and plastic recycling. The atmosphere was lively and the children actively interacted with the teacher.

Garbage Pickup Activities:

Volunteers pick up discarded plastic soft packaging

After the environmental protection class, CPRRA took everyone to Beijiejiayuan District 1 to carry out garbage sorting and collection activities. On the way to the community, everyone took the initiative to pick up discarded plastic soft packaging on the roadside. After entering the community, everyone divided into groups of three or two and quickly took action with high enthusiasm.

After half a day of activities, we found that residents were very concerned about garbage classification and plastic soft packaging recycling. They took the initiative to ask about the types of items picked up, confirm whether they were plastic soft packaging, and showed a strong willingness to participate. This makes us full of confidence in the subsequent plastic soft packaging recycling work.

Plastic flexible packaging recycling and terminal mixed application demonstration

As the team of "Plastic flexible packaging recycling and terminal mixed application demonstration project based on households and recycling companies", we will continue to promote plastic flexible packaging recycling through the following ways:

1. Publicity and guidance: Vigorously publicize the importance and methods of plastic flexible packaging recycling through various channels to enhance residents' awareness and participation.
2. Establish a mechanism: Implement relevant work in the long term and gradually establish a complete plastic flexible packaging recycling mechanism to ensure the sustainable development of the project.
3. Data collection: Cooperate with nearby merchants, garbage sorting staff and cleaning staff to collect relevant data on discarded plastic flexible packaging, including daily production, production per household and distribution ratio, etc., to provide a basis for scientific management and decision-making.
4. Multi-party collaboration: Establish a good cooperative relationship with the Fifth Community Residents Committee of Beijie Home, Beijie Home District 1 Property, etc., mobilize residents' enthusiasm through mutual cooperation, and jointly promote plastic flexible packaging recycling.
5. Community interaction: Establish a special plastic flexible packaging recycling group to encourage residents to publicize and supervise each other, attract more people to participate, and gradually form a good awareness of classified recycling.

Based on the plastic flexible packaging recycling and its terminal mixed application demonstration project by households and recycling companies, it links brand owners, recycling companies, communities and government departments to form a multi-party collaboration model, providing a sustainable solution for the recycling of plastic flexible packaging.

In the future, we will continue to explore more effective ways to promote the recycling of plastic flexible packaging in thousands of households. We believe that through everyone's joint efforts, everyone can become a little guardian of our planet and contribute to sustainable development.
