The United Nations Environment Programme reports that single-use plastics made of packaging account for the most plastic waste in the world. Of all plastic produced by humans, 36% is used for packaging.

Wood Mackenzie statistics: About 45 million tons of plastic for packaging production in China in 2020, nearly 40% of which are used to manufacture rigid plastic packaging, of which polyolefin rigid packaging (PP/PE) is growing rapidly.

China Packaging Federation "2023 Operation Overview of the National packaging industry" : In 2023, there are 10,632 enterprises above designated size in China's packaging industry (all industrial legal persons with annual operating income of 20 million yuan and above), and more than 500 polyolefin (PP/PE) rigid packaging recycling enterprises.

The production of polyolefin (PP/PE) hard packaging in 2023 will be about 6-7 million tons, the amount of waste will be about 5 million tons or more, and the amount of recycling will be about 3-4 million tons. Polyolefin (PP/PE) hard packaging (bottles, POTS, buckets, etc.) is an important professional field of recycling in China, because of its application scenarios (fast food boxes, milk POTS, condiments POTS, daily chemical bottles, etc.) and recycling methods have formed a complete recycling flow.
