Editor's Note

The harmful substances produced during the plastic crushing process are extremely harmful to the environment and human health. Those engaged in such industries must go through relevant procedures in accordance with the law and take effective pollution prevention and control measures. Any unit or individual must strictly abide by environmental protection laws and regulations when engaging in production and business activities. Illegal discharge of pollutants and environmental pollution will be severely punished by law.

Recently, the Xiaochang County Branch of the Xiaogan Municipal Ecological Environment Bureau jointly with the public security organs investigated and dealt with a case of illegal plastic crushing and processing.

Case Details

The person involved in the case, Song Moumou, set up a plastic crushing processing point privately without obtaining any environmental protection procedures. He crushed a large amount of waste plastics, which contained a small amount of hazardous waste. Toxic wastewater was discharged during the production process, seriously polluting the surrounding environment.

After investigation, it was found that Song's behavior violated Article 63 of the Environmental Protection Law of the People's Republic of China and Article 39 of the Water Pollution Prevention and Control Law of the People's Republic of China. In the end, the Xiaochang County Branch of the Xiaogan Municipal Ecological Environment Bureau fined Song 100,000 yuan , and at the same time transferred the case to the public security organs to impose administrative detention on Song for 7 days in accordance with the law, and ordered him to immediately stop the illegal behavior.
